Little things

Nothing spectacular has happened at the Watson household. . . . .no funny stories. . . no races or car accidents. . . . just everyday living. . .I really don't have any particular reason for posting other than I suppose the little things. Every couple of months or so I get to thinking, "What do I need to do to get my world 'on track' and feel like I have myself all together." I just know my world will come together when (just fill in the blank). . . when I create a regular exercise routine. . . when I get the twins potty trained. . . . .when I . . .when I . . . etc. After I come up with a big mental list of "when I's" I re-realize that there is always something. . . .just as I get potty training figured out (YIPPEE!) someone goes through a tantrum stage. . .once I get through the tantrum stage. . . .something else. For me I've realized that there will always be some sort of hurdle. I have learned to focus on the moments. I have a big confession to make. . .our house isn't always smooth sailing and wrinkle free. In fact, we have more than our fair share of tantrums, crying, arguments, "that's not fair's". . etc. .The way this mom make it through the day isn't by having everything under control and by having my world 'on track,' but it's found in the moments. The moments that make me smile. . .the funny stories the kids say and do. . . the "pretty moms". . .the three hugs extra at bedtimes. You know the little things. . .

OK... I love your blog today! I think that one was meant just for me and probably every other busy person. I always think my life will slow down but it just gets busier......and so I'm going to just enjoy the moments and get what I can done. Maybe visit Utah and Washington more and kiss on all those little cheeks! Thanks for the up lift and reminding me to enjoy the small but great moments in life.

You are Darling Ellice. ;) Potty training my boys was a little tricky/frustrating. I too, started. . . stopped. . started. . stopped. . We went on vacation and finally I was done with diapers. I told the boys we were completely done and there was going to be no more diapers. No matter what we were done. They honestly just really loved the convience of their diapers. The training started when I skimmed a book called, "Toliet Training in less than a day." I'd send it to you, but I honestly don't know where I placed it. The basic concept is, you have your toddler toliet train a doll. Reward/have a potty party for the doll. Pump your child full of liquids that way there are a lot of opportunities to practice pottying. Lots of praise and rewards. I would suggest getting the book their are a lot of great reward ideas and it actually worked. We had tried sticker charts, treats, movie time, a new toy, I think just about everything. The boys really had peepee down in less than a day. Big potty was another story. It took about 2 1/2 frustrating weeks. I got to the point were I would place them in the bath tub and have them change themselves. A couple times it took them a good 1/2 hour to change and clean their messy self. It was actually pretty funny. (well now it is, then I thought I was going to pull all my hair out!) They would tell that I did it and I needed to change them. LOL! I'm laughing about it now. I was really calm and patient with them and explained that they made the mess and they needed to clean themselves all while they were sobbing. It was really hard to be firm and not cave to putting them back in diapers, but now it is all worth it. When I say we got rid of diapers completely that even means at bedtime. . .they still have a few accidents a week. I don't make a big deal about it. I'm sure in time it will come. Good Luck to you! I know how frustrating Potty training can be. Anyone have any other ideas??

Conference Ensign Max?? There are some cute kids. . .but no Max. :)
